Nuclear plant law may fuel 2020 ballot fight

Nuclear Costs
Estimates for new reactor construction costs continue to sky-rocket. Conservative estimates range between $6 and $12 billion per reactor but Standard & Poor's predicts a continued rise. The nuclear power industry is lobbying for heavy federal subsidization including unlimited loan guarantees but the Congressional Budget Office predicts the risk of default will be well over 50 percent, leaving taxpayers to foot the bill. Beyond Nuclear opposes taxpayer and ratepayer subsidies for the nuclear energy industry.

A corrupt bailout for dinosaur power plants that screws renewable energy in the process.
Don't let the World Nuclear News Orwellian "Clean Energy" headline fool you -- nuclear power and coal are DIRTY, as well as dangerous and expensive.
Becca Pollard (Sierra Club/Beyond Coal) action alert:
After a tremendous grassroots effort including lots of strong opposition testimony at hearings, letters to the editors of papers all over the state, and tons of phone calls and tweets to legislators asking them to vote no on the extremely unpopular nuke and coal bailout bill, the House, with the support of 9 Dems, concurred with the Senate version of HB6 yesterday, and shortly thereafter Governor DeWine signed.the bill.
