Nuclear Watch South 26th Annual "Seeds of Peace" Nagasaki Day Observance in Atlanta

Hello all!

In Georgia, Nuclear Watch South is coordinating the 26th annual "Seeds of Peace" Nagasaki Day Observance at the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library in Atlanta with many co-sponsoring peace groups. We will be on the Georgia Coast for Hiroshima Day for 32nd annual "Lest We Forget" vigil at Kings Bay Trident nuclear submarine base. This year's observance is greatly enhanced by inclusion in Susie King Taylor Institute's annual Mami Wata Conference celebrating the birthday of Susie King Taylor. This teenage Liberty County slave escaped to freedom at age 13, joined the Union Army serving as a nurse on the battlefield and then dedicated herself to teach freed slaves to read. This year's theme is "Susie King Taylor and Sadako Sasaki: Heroines of War and Peace." We will retrace the escape to freedom route before sun-up in Midway, Georgia and then caravan to vigil and have libation ceremony at the gates of Kings Bay, then caravan to St. Simons Island to pay homage to new kiosk dedicated to SKT's natural healing knowledge. These connections and actions are a direct response to the inspiring action of the Kings Bay Plowshares 7.
