That's exactly what's planned for the Bruce nuclear complex in Ontario, Canada, on the shoreline of Lake Huron. With six operable reactors, and two more under refurbishment, Bruce already has more nuclear power plants than any other in the Western Hemisphere. But four brand newreactors are now proposed, which wouuld make it thesingle biggest nuclear power plant on the planet. Beyond Nuclear is working with U.S., Canadian, and First Nations colleagues throughout the Great Lakes to shut down the old reactors, and prevent the new ones at Bruce. Dr. Gordon Thompson of the Institute for Resource and Security Studies prepared this analysis on behalf of Greenpeace Canada, June 2008.
