It is ten years since the March 2011 Fukushima nuclear disaster and yet the lessons don't seem to have been learned. The current Japanese government, against the advice of former prime ministers, is intent on preserving a nuclear power program. Other countries are also willing to risk their own Fukushimas. Yet the reality is that the radioactive mess cannot be decontaminated quickly, effectively or, in some cases, at all. An no one should be forced on economic grounds, or through stigmatization, to live in areas too radioactive to be safe for human health.
