This satellite image provided by DigitalGlobe shows the damaged Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear facility in Japan on Monday, March 14, 2011."Minute amounts of radioactive strontium have been detected in soil and plants in Fukushima Prefecture beyond the 30-kilometer zone around the crippled Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, the science ministry said Tuesday.
When strontium enters the human body, it tends to accumulate in bones and is believed to cause bone cancer and leukemia.
Samples of soil and plants were taken March 16 to 19 from a number of locations in Fukushima Prefecture." The Mainichi Daily News
