Feds Lied About Pipeline Near NY Power Plant: Inspector General
Officials are demanding a briefing from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission about a report that found false statements and flawed science.
Safety
Nuclear safety is, of course, an oxymoron. Nuclear reactors are inherently dangerous, vulnerable to accident with the potential for catastrophic consequences to health and the environment if enough radioactivity escapes. The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Congressionally-mandated to protect public safety, is a blatant lapdog bowing to the financial priorities of the nuclear industry.

Lowey to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission's chairwoman, Christine Svinicki. It also contains a link to the NRC Office of Inspector General's report.
New York's Department of Public Service (Public Service Commission) issued the following statement on 2/27/20 re: NRC's OIG report:
The NY PSC maintains its demand that the responsible federal agencies immediately conduct a rigorous and comprehensive safety and risk analysis of all of the large diameter gas pipelines in the vicinity of Indian Point, including the AIM pipeline and older Algonquin pipelines, and the risk they pose to Indian Point's workforce, nuclear power plants, densely packed spent fuel pools, and waste storage facilities. The re-analysis should be transparent and include peer-review by neutral third party risk analysts with significant experience in gas explosions and severe radiological accidents.
